DO YOU OFFER A PACKAGE WITH AUDIO FROM THE DAY, I.E., VOWS AND TOASTS?
I don’t! I exclusively cater to people who hate hearing themselves talk. ;-) In all honesty, my passion is making beautiful and whimsical music video-style highlight reels set to music only. There are lots of other videographers who do the “storytelling” thing well, but I want my videos to have a nostalgic quality to them. I love watching old footage...there’s a certain magic to seeing the footage and taking in the motion of the day without being able to actually hear what’s going on. ALSO, I’m a big music person and I love finding a song with *just* the right vibe to compliment your footage.
CAN WE GET THE RAW FOOTAGE, OR A LONGER EDIT WITH THE FULL CEREMONY?
Unfortunately that’s not something I do for a couple reasons...since I shoot weddings by myself with one camera, I move around and stop/restart the camera quite a bit to get different angles. My raw footage only consists of 10(ish) second clips at a time, so it’s not at all cohesive to watch in its entirety. Also, since I don’t offer a package with audio from the day, I don’t shoot with professional sound equipment, so being able to hear what’s going on very clearly would be iffy.
DO YOU OFFER DRONE FOOTAGE?
Not typically. I’m of the (maybe unpopular?) opinion that drones are waaay overused. Let me put it this way: in 20 years, do you think you would rather see the roof of your wedding venue in your wedding video, or have more time spent capturing the PEOPLE? I just don’t love taking up real estate in your video with what I consider unimportant footage. The exception: if you’re getting married somewhere with a really epic view, and you want to remember that view in that moment forever. I totally get that, and if that’s you, let’s talk about it.
WHO CHOOSES THE MUSIC?
I usually do, but I’m totally game if you want to have input! I only edit to songs that I can license (so you won’t have any trouble if you want to upload your video on social media or YouTube), but I can send you some options to choose from if you would like!
CAN WE ADD EXTRA HOURS?
You sure can! Extra hours are $150 per hour. Please note, this will not make your final product any different. When people choose to add hours, it’s usually because they have location changes that take up time, or they decide they want to get ready really early in the day, but still have me stay through the end of the reception.
CAN WE MAKE THE VIDEO LONGER?
First of all, let me make a case for short videos. Did you know that most people don’t watch a video for more than 2 minutes? It really pains me to tell you that. I want to capture your day in the most powerful and jaw-dropping way so that you (and anyone who watches your video) are left thinking, “Wow. What an incredible day that was!” instead of, “Oh my gosh this thing is dragging on and on and now I’m bored”. I want you to have a video that’s the most magical, can’t-tear-your-eyes-away-from-the-screen thing you’ve ever seen. I put a lot of thought into my edits and select only the most beautiful moments to include so that you have a perfect highlight that captures the overall vibe of your entire day. For this reason, I have very consciously made the choice to only offer my one-song highlight reels at this time.
DISCLAIMER:
Please note that I am just one person, and this style of video is not intended to capture or include every little detail of the day, but rather be an artistic interpretation of your wedding created from the clips that best capture the essence of your day. I typically do not shoot stationary things, i.e., solo shots of details or posed family photos. I prefer to capture your dress while it’s on you, your flowers while you’re carrying them, your family while they are dancing or helping you get ready, etc. I like to think of my videos as a supplement to your photos. Your photographer will capture the details, but I’m capturing the motion and EMOTION.
